In fact most injuries involving the soft tissues may benefit from this treatment. Additional benefit may be achieved when used alongside other treatments, i.e. Chiropody, Chiropractic, Massage, Acupuncture, Physio etc.

How does Kinesio Taping work?
Kinesio Taping works on many levels. If you imagine an onion which is made up of many layers, the human body is very much the same. On the outer level is the Epidermis (Skin), beneath which lay the dermis, Fascia, Muscles & Tendons, Ligaments and Bones. Throughout all these layers are pain receptors.

Fascia has an important role to play, in a healthy form, the fascia lays in neat striations which allows the muscle to move smoothly beneath the skin, however when it becomes injured these striations become tangled so that the tissues either side adhere and free movement can no longer occur.

During an injury, swelling occurs as the body prepares to heal, however the extra fluid in the area causes congestion and therefore the pain receptors become irritated. By applying Kinesio Tape, which gently lifts the skin and Fascia it enables fluid to disperse and healing to occur within the layers?

Kinesio Tape can also be applied in a slightly different ways to either stimulate weakened muscles or inhibit tight or overused muscles.

When applied with a 50 – 75% stretch, the tape then may also be used as a supportive tape to help realign or maintain correct joint function.

How many treatments will I need?
When applied, Kinesio Tape is left in place for 3 -5 days. For some people the effects of Kinesio Taping are immediate, however some chronic injuries may need further treatments to allow the brain receptors to assimilate the improved function of joints, muscles etc.

What will it all cost?
Kinesio Taping is £25.00 per treatment.
